Softball Defeats Cosumnes Oaks 8-5

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Chloe Smith homered for third time this season to lead the team to a 8-5 victory over Cosumnes Oaks as the Troubadours improved to 10-5 and 5-2 in Delta League play.

Smith's home run erased a 1-0 Wolfpack lead as part of three-run first inning. Catie Caldwell added a run-scoring single to bring home Grace Jenkins, who followed the Smith home run with a triple.

St. Francis loaded the bases in the second and added two runs with two walks by the CO pitcher to extend the lead to 5-2.

The Troubies added two runs in the third on single by Sydney Littles, who had three hits in the game and scored two runs. Daniella Guerrera added a sacrifice fly.

Hope Jenkins (7-3) pitched the complete game, strikeout out five. She held the Wolfpack to run two runs over the first six innings. She allowed a late rally three-run rally in the seventh but held on for the win.

St. Francis won its second consecutive game and fourth in the last five games to remain undefeated at home (5-0). The Troubies travel to Sheldon on Monday before hosting Pioneer on Tuesday in the final game before Spring Break. The JV game against Sheldon has been canceled on Monday.
