Kolokotronis steps down from water polo post
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Marisa Kolokotronis, a 2013 St. Francis High graduate and the 2021 Delta League Coach of the Year, announced to the Troubadour water polo program that she will not return for the upcoming season due to conflicts with her primary profession.

The search process for a new head water polo coach has already begun.

Kolokotronis returned to her alma mater in the summer of 2019 to assume the Troubies' junior varsity helm and serve as Emily Whalen's assistant with the varsity program. Two years later, she took over as varsity head coach. In her lone season as the top varsity mentor, Kolokotronis guided SFHS to a 6-18 record (due to a tough non-league schedule), a second-place finish in the Delta League, and a berth in the Sac-Joaquin Section tournament.

Under her guidance, five Troubies earned All-Delta League honors: Emma Kropf, Gauri Mathrakott, Baya McIntosh, Rory Peters and Ava Stimson

A collegiate player herself, Kolokotronis scored 190 career goals at Brown, earning ACWPC All-America honorable mention and helping the Bears win the CWPA title as a senior. This followed an outstanding career at St. Francis that included two All-America awards, two USAWP All-Academic nods, and three selections to the all-area honor roll.
