SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis junior water polo player Gauri Mathrakott earned one of 36 spots on the 'PACE' Youth squad that will compete at the USA Water Polo Olympic Development Program National Championships, held throughout the Tri-Valley area from March 18-20.

 

The PACE team consists of players from the USAWP Pacific and Central Zones. Mathrakott is one of just three players from the Central Zone, while the remaining 33 hail from the Pacific region. The Youth designation categorizes the various age groups: Youth for those born in 2004 or 2005, Cadet for those born in 2006-07, and Developmental for players born in 2008 or later. Mathrakott's division will play at Granada High School (Livermore) and Ohlone College (Fremont).

 

Mathrakott led St. Francis with 60 total points last fall, scoring 33 goals with 27 assists. She earned All-Delta League distinction and varsity team Player of the Year honors, while her scholastic achievements garnered her USAWP All-Academic accolades.
