Mathrakott, Stimson earn USAWP academic honors
IRVINE, Calif. –  St. Francis High juniors Gauri Mathrakott and Ava Stimson each earned Academic All-America honors from USA Water Polo, the organization announced in its fall issue of Skip Shot magazine.
 
The scholar honors are bestowed upon prep boys and girls from across the country who have achieved a grade-point average of 3.50 or higher during the previous school year in the subjects of history/social science, English, mathematics, lab sciences, foreign language or computer science. Grades in electives, fine arts or P.E./sports do not count. Athletes must also be USA Water Polo Gold members.
 
Mathrakott (Sacramento) and Stimson (Fair Oaks) were the Troubadours' most prolific offense performers during the 2021 varsity season. Mathrakott scored 33 goals with 27 assists for a team-high 60 points, while Stimson led SFHS with 39 goals to go with 17 assists for 56 total points.
 
The Troubies finished second in the Delta League and qualified for the Sac-Joaquin Section Div. I postseason under first-year head varsity coach Marisa Kolokotronis.
