CARMICHAEL, Calif. – Juniors Rachael Madden and Gauri Mathrakott each netted two goals while senior goalkeeper Emily Sherrod collected seven saves, but St. Francis came up on the losing end of a 7-5 Holy Water battle against Christian Brothers in high school girls' water polo action at Jesuit High School Tuesday night.

Mathrakott scored her goals in each of the second and third quarters to close the Falcon lead to 4-3, then Ava Stimson hit the equalizer soon after. However, CB's Eliza Mikacich scored two of her game-high five goals in a run of three unanswered, boosting her team to a 7-4 edge.

Stimson also drew two exclusions and posted a pair of steals while Mathrakott came up with three steals of her own.

The Troubadour JV Gold squad fared better in the opener of the doubleheader, with Ashlyn Brock scoring with just 24 seconds remaining to crack a 4-4 tie en route to a 6-5 win. Abigail Benavidez delivered a hat trick, including a goal into an empty CB net soon after Brock's go-ahead. That third goal proved pivotal, as Angelina Rivera scored her second goal for the Falcons in the final seconds, cutting the Troubies' final margin to the single goal.

SFHS returns to action for a road game at McClatchy High on Monday.
