Get to Know: Water Polo's #17 Alyssa Jacobsen
Alyssa has been a four-year member of the Water Polo program. She serves as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President.

What are you most excited about for your senior year?
"Embracing it all. It has been a journey getting here. Everything that we have been through with our teams from bringing in new girls to saying goodbye to our friends. I'm most excited to enjoy this last journey that we have together."

What has been the highlight so far?
"The highlight really is just having a team to rely on and having girls that I know are always there for me. Just being able to get in the pool and knowing that is my time to go and just play water polo and do what I love."

What are your personal goals going through this season?
"I want us to grow as close together as we can.and for that to show in and out of the pool that we are not only troubie sisters but water polo sisters as well and knowing that we are a team and always can rely on each other and always working hard together."

What are your hopes and dreams for college?
"I am really looking at George Washington University. It fits the characteristics of a school that I want - somewhere I can go and play water polo and succeed athletically but also academically. Academics have always been very important to me and I want to go into a pre-med track and having a school that will support me for that is a big aspect in looking at colleges."

What do you want to be after school?
"I am leaning towards a physician's assistant. Working in either the nicu or pediatrics."

What did you do in Boston two years ago?
"I went to a Harvard medical camp through the National Student Leadership Conference. It was a lot of fun!"

What did you do this past summer?
"This summer I played water polo per usual. I also worked at a wound clinic as a receptionist, I learned the basics of the office, how patients come in and getting medications ordered. It is really interesting to see how the industry works."

Being president of the SAAC what does that role mean to you?
"It is really exciting. I definitely just want to be a bigger voice for the sports programs being an inbetween for the athletes and admin. I know our Dance and Theater programs are both huge aspects of St. Francis but really our sports are too. I know there are tons of Troubies in sports. Being a representative of that is really important and I hope to be a good leader for that."

What was your experience working on the student LLS campaign last year?
"It was amazing. Knowing what they do finding research to cure cancer and helping people who have it really speaks to me and is an inspiration. It was a lot of fun and just an overall great experience. Our team was named Team Tolley and we raised over 100,000 dollars to support  Leukemia and Lymphoma, placing second overall. I was one of the three co-leaders along with Chole Beebout and Colin O'Donnell."

What is one fun fact about you?
"In sixth grade I memorized 147 digits of pi. It was a competition and I had to win. Beating the old record which was 30."
