Water Polo Advances to Section Final with 9-4 Win

MODESTO, Calif. – The No. 2 seeded St. Francis water polo team posted a 9-4 victory over No. 3 Granite Bay behind the four goals by junior Libby Slater and three by senior Kendall Houck.

The Troubadours scored three goals in the third and four in the second to build a 7-0 halftime lead. The Grizzlies scored four in the third but never got any closer than four.

Juniors Zoe Sloat and Emma Johnson contributed two assists each and senior Caroline Wilkins and freshman Gauri Mathrakot added solo goals.

Junior Claire McManus held GB scoreless in the first half as the Troubies built the lead and made five saves overall in the contest.

St. Francis (17-9) will face top-seed Davis in the final for the third consecutive season. Davis defeated Woodcreek 13-6 to reach the final. The Final will be at Roseville Aquatic Center at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for students.
