Five Water Polo Players Earn USA Water Polo Academic All-America Status

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – Seniors Alyssa Jacobsen (Sacramento) and Caroline Wilkins (Carmichael) were among five St. Francis water polo players named to the USA Water Polo Academic All-America team announced this week. Both were named to the team for the third consecutive season and received Outstanding Academic All-American status for receiving a 4.00 GPA or higher while competing in a National USA Water Polo event.

"It means a lot to me to be recognized for both," said Jacobsen, who has 4.03 GPA. "It is a lot of work to keep that balance between school and athletics. Both are a very high priority in my life so it is great to be recognized for my achievements in both."

Juniors Libby Slater (Davis). Emma Johnson (Sacramento) and Zoe Sloat (Sacramento) were also named to the team, earning the elite honor for the first time. Johnson and Sloat both were distinguished with the Outstanding status.

"It shows how hard we work both in and out of the pool," said Jacobsen of the five St. Francis teammates on the team.

Jacobsen, Johnson, Sloat, and Wilkins represent American River Water Polo Club, while Slater plays for the Davis Water Polo Club. Overall, 21 Troubadours have earned Academic All-America since 2013.

The water polo team returns to the pool next weekend for the Woodcreek Invitational.
