St. Francis celebrates nine future collegiate athletes

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Nine senior student-athletes were recognized for their future participation in collegiate sports during St. Francis Catholic High School's Fall National Letter of Intent & College Commitment celebration Thursday morning. This is the first of two such ceremonies that the all-girls college preparatory school hosts each school year.

Alphabetically, the panel of honorees comprised Carly Hall (Pacific, soccer), Mia Hill (St. Bonaventure, swimming), Erica Jaffe (UCLA, swimming), Maggie Koerwitz (San Francisco, soccer), Claire Krotine (Santa Clara, softball), Sofia Rabinovitz (Hastings, soccer), Marissa Recio (Fresno State, swimming), Megan Sands (SMU, rowing) and Isabelle Schmid (Cal Poly, swimming).

"I consider today's ceremony one the true highlights of the St. Francis calendar," said director of athletics Ryan Chisolm in his remarks. "These young women exemplify dedication and excellence in athletics, academics and service to the community. To honor and celebrate their achievements is a privilege for any athletics director."

The ceremony, held in the school's dining hall, also recognized the teachers, coaches, counselors and administrators who prepare all Troubadour students for their next steps after graduation. Furthermore, the event took place on a "late start" day of school, allowing a higher number of fellow students to participate in the celebration.

A similar ceremony will take place in the spring.
