SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior lacrosse midfielder Brynley Hodge earned Delta League Player of the Year distinction to lead a sizable haul of All-Delta League awards for St. Francis at the conclusion of the spring 2024 athletics season.
Hodge, one of seven overall all-league honorees from lacrosse, led her Troubadours to their first – and last – Delta League championship. St. Francis moves to the Sierra Foothill League starting with the 2024-25 school year.
Overall, a total of seven lacrosse players, three softball players, one diver, five swimmers and eight track & field athletes earned All-Delta League nods. Lacrosse and softball are determined by a vote of the conference's coaches, while both swimming & diving and track & field issues such acclaim for winning events at the league championship meets. However, the awards are not announced until all league member schools have completed Sac-Joaquin Section championship play.
Softball and lacrosse also issued Delta League Sportsmanship Award patches to senior Taylor Lewis and junior Zia Smith, respectively. Each team for each sport selects a sole recipient for this award, which may not go to an all-league honoree.
Hodge, who signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Xavier, led SF in draw controls (46), tied for the team lead in assists (17) and ranked second in goals (40), total points (57), ground balls (20) and caused turnovers (13). She and fellow senior Jane Tattersall – herself a Winthrop commit – share the school record of 70 goals, set in 2023. Overall, Hodge finished with 169 varsity goals: five as a freshman, 54 as a sophomore, the 70 as a junior, plus 40 this spring.
