Yadao wraps outstanding SF career at state meet

FRESNO, Calif. – Senior Sinclair Yadao scored 300.85 in eight rounds on the 1-meter board to wrap up her outstanding St. Francis diving career at the CIF State Championships, held at Clovis West Thursday morning.

The Sacred Heart University commit placed 19th, missing the cut to the final by less than six points. Lorealle Louise Lobedecis of Long Beach Poly nabbed the 18th and final spot with a 306.75 total.

This marked Yadao's second trip to the state meet, along with the 13th-place showing from her sophomore season in 2022.  In fact, her semifinal total Thursday was higher than her 288.45 total at the same point in the 2022 meet, good for 14th and an advancement to the finals.

Yadao averaged 35.03 points per dive, ranking 19th after five dives to advance to the semifinal round. She popped 46.80 ticks on her 403B, or inward 1.5 somersault pike, in the second round; then broke the 40-point threshold in each of her fourth and fifth dives during the quarterfinals. Yadao enjoyed her best semifinal dive in the eighth and final round before the cut, scoring 38.25 total on a 301B (reverse pike).

Under the tutelage of veteran coach Phil Tonne, Yadao has dived competitively since the age of 11. She won the Delta League title all four years at St. Francis, plus she has Sac-Joaquin Section finishes of second (2022), fifth (2023) and third (2024). She will now wait to see if she makes the 100-person cut for the NISCA All-America awards. Yadao easily surpassed the 375-point qualification standard at the section (416.30) and league (461.85) competitions earlier in the season.

Clayton Valley's Molly Gray won the meet with a whopping 530.40 total. She is a former silver medalist at the Junior World Championship and a Stanford commit. Long Beach Poly's Elonia Feliciti Lobedecis finished second (508.20), while Sobrato senior and future UC Davis Aggie Katherine Lim took third (487.30).
