Yadao wins fourth straight Delta League championship

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Sinclair Yadao scored an 11-dive total of 461.85 to capture her fourth consecutive Delta League 1-meter diving title, as multiple conferences held their respective championship meets at Rio Americano Wednesday.

Yadao's total also easily eclipsed the 375-point minimum standard for NISCA High School All-America honors. It also marks the Sacred Heart commit's best meet in an invitational format since the 2022 league championship, when she amassed 476.60 points. She scored at least 45 points in six of her dives, including 50.60 on her 5132D (forward 1.5 with a twist) in the fifth round and 50.40 on a 403B (inward 1.5 pike) on her second dive.

Juniors Maya Hamilton and Paige Vicente scored 333.00 and 330.35, respectively, to finish third and fourth overall. Only Davis' Violet Watts prevented the Troubadours from sweeping the top three places, which contribute toward the league's overall swimming championship meet on Thursday and Friday.

St. Francis and Davis were the only teams with diving entrants. The meet also featured Christian Brothers, Vista Del Lago and host Rio vying for the Capital Athletic League championship, while Kennedy's lone diver won the Metro League crown by default.

The league championship meet opened with the junior varsity competition, with St. Francis' Rose Buffleben (254.20) and Lily Frei (245.10) representing the only divers for the Delta League.

All five Troubadours will return to action on Tuesday for the Sac-Joaquin Section championships, hosted by St. Mary's at its own Cortopassi Aquatics Center. The top varsity finishers earn spots at the CIF state meet on May 9. Yadao is the last St. Francis diver to reach the state championship, doing so by virtue of her runner-up finish in 2022.
