Senior Golfer Patricia Sweeney Named MVP Among Award Winners

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis golf team handed out their annual awards at the banquet on Nov. 27.

Senior Patricia Sweeney was named the Team MVP. She led the team in scoring average in duals (36.3) and 18 holes (82.8) and earned medalist honors in three events, earning All-Delta League honors for the fourth time in her career.

Sophomore Madeline Lee received the Most Improved Player Award. She posted a 39.8 scoring average on the season in duals and had career-best rounds of 37 and 84 during the season. She played in nine matches over the season.

Senior Olivia Alcoran finished her career with the Integrity in the Moment Award. She posted a 37.2 scoring average in duals and 83.8 18-hole average. She earned All-Della League honors for the fourth time in her career.

Junior Amanda Siy received the Integrity in the Moment Award. She appeared in five matches during the season.

Junior Nashla Aguero was the third member of the team to earn all-league honors while Head Coach Bert Jones was named the Co-Coach of the Year with Burt Leitzell of Pleasant Grove. It was the third time he garnered the end of the season honor.

Other team highlights from the season included:

  • Won the Delta League title for the third consecutive season
  • Finished second at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I and Masters tournaments
  • Advanced to the CIF Northern California Regionals, placing 10th overall.
  • Hosted a community service event

All-Delta League
