11 St. Francis Seniors Make Collegiate Commitments

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis had 11 seniors who have made commitments to compete in collegiate sports, bringing the total to 20 student-athletes for the Class of 2020. They would have been recognized at a ceremony at the school April 22 that was canceled due to the school shutdown.

The 11 student-athletes making commitments since the fall include: Adithi Benush (Tennis/Occidental College), Marli Berry (Soccer, Howard University), Chloe Beebout (Swimming, CS East Bay), Isabella Fauria, (Cross Country/Track & Field, University of New Mexico), Mia Fleming-Mullins (Basketball, University of the Pacific), Mondah Javidan (Rowing, Harvard), Meghan Ladd (Track & Field, St. John's (N.Y.) University), Sarah Mudd (Water Polo, Sierra College), Lindsey Piatanesi (Soccer, Chico State), Micayla Ratukalou (Soccer, Delta College), and Ari Spence (Soccer, CS San Marcos).

Soccer led the list with four signees that helped St. Francis to the 2020 Sac-Joaquin Section D1 Section and 2019 CIF Northern California D2 Regional titles over the last two seasons.

Berry (Orangevale) was a four-year letter winner for the soccer program, scoring 18 goals and recording nine assists over 92 games. She was a two-time Defensive Most Valuable Player and earned Untied Soccer Coaches All-West Region honors in 2018.

Piatanesi (Sacramento) scored 19 goals and notched eight assists over her two years in the program. She tallied the goal of the season with the golden gold in the NorCal final as a junior and giving the Troubadours the title. He earned Newcomer of the Year at the team banquet.

Ratukalou (Sacramento) scored eight goals and four assists to cap off her three-year varsity career, while Spence had two goals in her final season. She was the recipient of the Delta League Sportsmanship Award as a junior.

Fauria (Carmichael)  led the cross country team to three Top-10 CIF State Championship finishes, 2019 Masters and Section titles on the track and three Section titles (2016, 2018, 2019) in cross country while winning five individual section titles across the two sports.

Basketball's Fleming-Mullins 9El Dorado Hills) averaged 17.2 points per game to lead the league and rank No. 114 in the state at the end of her senior season. She finished with 464 points, the second-best total in school history. Fleming-Mullins also ranked second in the league in rebounding at 7.6 and first in blocks per game (1.7). Overall she had seven double-doubles on the season. She was named the Delta League Player of the Year and was selected to the Sacramento Bee All-Metro, Optimist and All-NorCal All-Star teams.

Swimming's Chloe Beebout (Sacramento) was a four-year member of the swimming team and three-time Section qualifier. She helped the 200 free relay win the consolation final last year at Sections and was eighth in the 500 free and ninth in the 200 free at Delta League Championships. She was part of two Frosh/Soph Section titles and was named one of the Frosh/Soph team MVPs as a freshman and a sophomore. She was second in the 500 free and part of winning 400 free relay at 2018 Sections.

Track and Field pole vaulter Ladd, who hails from Folsom, set the school record at 12-0 in 2018. She was a three-time Sac-Joaquin Section qualifier, finishing third in 2017 and 2019 and placed sixth overall at the SJS Masters meet in 2017. She won 15 meet titles in her signature event over her career including the 2018 Delta League Championship.

Water Polo standout Mudd, who lives in Auburn, was a three-year letter winner for the Troubadours. She posted single-season career-highs for goals (11), assists (6) and steals (13) as a senior, finishing her career 17 goals and seven assists for the varsity team.

Javidan, who lives in Fair Oaks, competes for Capital Crew, has been part of top finishes at many top regional and national regattas including the San Diego Crew Classic and Head of the Charles.

They joined nine student-athletes from the Class of 2020 who made commitments earlier in the year and were recognized in November. They include Emily Bilena (Soccer/Chico State University, Alexa Edwards (Volleyball/University of the Pacific), Kendall Houck (Water Polo/San Diego State University), Alyssa Jacobsen (Water Polo. George Washington University), Jesiree Moral (Volleyball/Fresno Pacific), Emma Peters (Swimming/University of San Diego), Haley Silva (Cross Country/Track & Field/ UC-Berkeley), Bella Vierra (Water Polo/Wagner College) and Sydnie Young (Equestrian/Texas Christian University).
