Volleyball Ends Season on 3-0 Loss to Bishop O’Dowd in CIF Open Quarters

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The No. 3-seeded volleyball team lost to No. 6 Bishop O'Dowd 3-0 in the CIF Northern California Open Division quarterfinals Wednesday night. The Dragons eliminated the Troubadours for the second-consecutive season, winning 25-23, 25-22, 25-20.

"We played like we had something to lose," said Head Coach Alynn Wright. "We were not loose and confident. We had a good warmup. They came out firing and with a chip on their shoulders and with something to prove. They played well."

Bishop O'Dowd, the winner of the North Coast Section, was led by senior Michelle Ohwobete, who had 19 kills on the night. SF, the Sac-Joaquin Section winner, was slowed by 15 hitting errors and six service errors in the match.

"The unforced errors were the difference in all the sets," said Wright. "If you can't manage the game, you are not going to win."

Alexa Edwards and Lauren Patella led the team with six kills with Ellie Eichhorn and Ashley Magley adding five each. Danica Nelson and Edwards recorded 10 digs and Eichhorn added 12 assists.

The Troubadours finished the season with a 36-3 overall record with Delta League and Section titles in the postseason. Four Troubies played their final match on Wednesday including Edwards, Lara Chappuie, Jesiree Moral and Suzanne Salazar.

"They are a tremendous group of young ladies," said Wright. "They were a team through and through. They cheered and supported each other. It will be hard for Bill and I to say goodbye. There is only one team that is going to win. "

Bishop O'Dowd (29-7) advanced to Saturday's semifinals against Sacred Heart Cathedral.
