MERCED, Calif. – The St. Francis varsity volleyball team won the Central California Classic Saturday with a 2-0 win over Clovis North by the scores off 25-18, 25-17. Senior Alexa Edwards was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player and juniors Chloe Henning and Ashley Magley earned all-tournament honors.
The Troubadours went 7-0 in pool play starting with wins over Hughson (25-8, 25-7), Beyer (25-6, 25-5) and Sonora (25-9, 25-10) on Friday. On Saturday morning, the Troubies defeated Turlock (25-12, 25-18) and Merced (25-12, 25-12) to reach the Gold Pool with Clovis West and Clovis East.
St. Francis swept the Clovis schools with a 25-16, 25-23 win over Clovis West and 25-11, 25018 victory over Clovis East to reach the final.
Overall, St. Francis (12-0) went 8-0 in the tournament without dropping a set. They open Delta League play on Tuesday at Davis at 6:00 p.m.
