SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior volleyball player Alexa Edwards was named to the GoTroubies.com Athlete of the Week after leading the volleyball program to a combined 10-0 record last week with wins over regionally-ranked Christian Brothers and Oak Ridge.
Edwards had 11 kills in the three-set win over rival Christian Brothers on Sept. 3. She followed with a 25-kill, 23-dig performance against Oak Ridge on Sept. 4. Edwards then helped the Troubadours to a team win at the Central California Classic in Merced, posting an 8-0 record and earning Most Valuable Player honors.
Other nominees for the Week of Sept. 1-8 included tennis players Izzy Asker and Safaa Umar. At the Golden State Classic last weekend, Asker and Umar were perfect with 4-0 records. Water Polo's Kendall Houck had seven goals in the opening weekend at the St. Francis Scramble and senior Izzy Fauria was the top finisher at the Oakmont Invitational.
