MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – Junior Jane Tattersall scored a team-leading five goals while Keira Miles added four more, but St. Francis of Sacramento fell in a 14-13 battle to Saint Francis of Mountain View in the varsity nightcap of an inter-sectional girls' prep lacrosse doubleheader at Ron Calcagno Stadium Tuesday night.
The Troubadours even their record to 2-2 for the season. The varsity squad also fell by a one-goal margin, losing 9-8 to the Lancers.
Sophomore Karly Okamoto added two goals and three assists, while junior Brynley Hodge accounted for the remaining two St. Francis goals. Miles also led the Troubies with five draw controls, with Hodge and Tattersall winning three each. Finally, Hodge, Sara Ellis and May Conlin each recorded two caused turnovers, while junior goalkeeper Havana Sperber tallied eight saves.
Saint Francis held an 8-5 lead over its similarly named guest at the halftime break.
In the JV opener, sophomore Olivia Hamm netted four goals and an assist, while Sofia Rabinovitz added a 2-1-3 scoring chart. Rabinovitz recently rejoined the team after her call-up to the Troubie varsity soccer team for its section and NorCal postseason run. Olivia Alvernaz and Chloe Tanner each had a goal. Sophomore Sofia Rainbolt guarded the cage for five saves.
Saint Francis comes off a 2022 season in which the Lancers went 12-7 and advanced a round in the Central Coast Section playoffs. The SFHS jayvees also enjoyed an outstanding season, finishing 13-2 overall with their lone losses coming against St. Ignatius.
The Troubadours return to action on Friday, hosting another team from outside the Sac-Joaquin Section: Monte Vista High of Danville. The Mustangs have already claimed victories against regular SF opponents Davis and Granite Bay thus far in 2023. Friday's first draws are 5:30 p.m. for JV, 7 p.m. for varsity at Mather Sports Complex.
