Weaver to represent SF at Sunday's Optimist All-Star Game

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior wing Jadyn Weaver will represent St. Francis at the 46th-annual Sacramento Optimist All-Star game, held this Sunday at Capital Christian. She joins Troubadour head coach Brittany Woodard, who was selected as the coach for the South in the large-school game.

The All-Star games, organized by the Sacramento Evening Optimist, start at 10 a.m. with the small-school girls' game. The small-school boys follow at noon, Weaver and Woodard take part in the large-school girls' game at 2 p.m., with the large-school boys wrapping the day at 4 p.m.

The Optimist All-Star games and matches honor the top senior athletes from the greater Sacramento area. Weaver earned All-Delta League honors for a Troubie team that went 23-6 overall with a 12-0 mark in league play. SF also advanced in the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs for the first time since 2018, and rated among the area's top-10 rankings for most of the season. Weaver averaged 10.9 points per game and buried a team-leading 50 three-pointers for the Troubies last year.

Woodard, the 2022-23 Delta League Coach of the Year, will join Christian Brothers coach Shandyn Foster as the staff for the South squad. The former Nevada and Cal Poly student-athlete joined St. Francis as a junior varsity coach in 2021-22, then took over the varsity helm last winter. The 23-6 record in Woodard's rookie season is the best by an SF squad since 2015-16.

Capital Christian is located at 9470 Micron Avenue in Sacramento, although the athletics facilities are located on the southwest end of the campus along Mayhew Road. Tickets are purchased on-site only, with all proceeds going to the Optimist youth and community programs.
