Troubies host Rocklin in CIF-SJS playoff opener

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis has drawn the No. 5 seed and will host Rocklin in Tuesday's first-round game of the 2023 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs, the section offices announced on a selection show Saturday. Tip-off is 7 p.m. in the school's main gym, with tickets available exclusively via GoFan.

The Troubadours enter the postseason with a 22-4 overall record and a perfect 12-0 mark against the Delta League. That championship, the 18th in program history and the first in five years, clinched an automatic berth in the Division I bracket by virtue of the league's divisional status.

Rocklin wrapped up its regular season with a 56-19 loss to Whitney on Tuesday. The Thunder went 11-16 for the year and 3-7 in Sierra Foothill League play, tying Del Oro for fourth place in the standings. Bianca Slone, a 6-foot-1 freshman guard/forward, leads her team with 9.9 points per game and an SFL-best 8.4 rebounds per contest.

The Troubies have three players who average double-figure offense: sophomore point guard Sydney Teoh (11.7), senior wing Jadyn Weaver (11.0) and junior wing Brianna McGahan (11.0). Junior Chidera Okoye follows with 8.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, having totaled six double-doubles during the year.

Tuesday's bracket opener represents a rematch of the November 22 meeting, in which Teoh amassed 24 points in a 65-39 win.

All CIF postseason tickets are available exclusively via the GoFan app and platform. No cash transactions will take place at the door. An event will be available on the St. Francis GoFan channel (https://gofan.co/app/school/CA8032) soon.
