FRESNO, Calif. – The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Erica Jaffe, Isabelle Schmid, Grace Mering and Mia Hill finished ninth overall with a time of three minutes, 29.89 seconds to lead St. Francis on the final day of the CIF Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted at the Clovis Olympic Swim Complex.

The Troubadours finished 13th as a team with 65 teams, edging a tightly contested group of schools from 13th through 17th: Riverside Poly (64), Mountain View (62), Liberty (62) and San Marcos (61). Santa Margarita easily defended its title with 210 points, well ahead of runner-up Carondelet's 158 and host Clovis West's 151 totals.

In all, St. Francis earned Saturday swims in five events en route to the 65 points. The 200 medley relay squad of Mering, Hill, Jaffe and freshman Lilla Kapinya opened the day with a 10th-place 1:45.33. Mering then finished 11th in the 200 individual medley at 2:03.44.  
Jaffe was the lone Troubie to advance in multiple individual events. She went 51.10 to place 14th in the 100 free, then followed with a 56.10 in the 100 backstroke, good for 11th. Finally, the 400 free relay squad closed out the meet with its ninth-place showing.

The state championship meet closes out an outstanding year for St. Francis under the tutelage of third-year head coach Brian Nabeta. SF won its second consecutive Sac-Joaquin Section Division II banner, then broke the oldest remaining school record – the 200 medley relay – in Friday's portion.
