Track and Field Wins First Delta League Meet of the Season

SACRAMENTO, Calif - The St. Francis track and field team won their first Delta League meet of the season. The Troubies ran against Sheldon on Wednesday night at Jesuit winning 88-35.

Senior Serena Shimada won the 100 meter hurdles in 16.08 and the 300 hurdles in 47.42; Shimada's personal record for the season. Sophomore Reyna Johnson won the 100 meter sprint with 12.66 in the varsity division. Johnson jumped 16.9 in the long jump. The St. Francis 4x100m relay team fell second to Sheldon in 50.70.

Junior Isabella Fauria won the 400m in with a time of 58.57, Fauria's personal record. Senior Sophie DeBenedetti close behind Fauria in 101.23, a season record for DeBenedetti. Followed behind DeBenedetti was senior Kathryn Kramer in 101.76, giving St. Francis the top three times in the 400m.

Sarah Healey won the discus (76-8) and finished second in the shot put, while the Troubies swept the high jump behind Isbella Palchak (5-4) and Reyna Johnson took the long Jump (16-9). Molly Chambers won the pol vault.

The Troubies will compete next week at Jesuit against Franklin and Pleasant Grove at 3:30 p.m. on March 27, 2019 for Delta League and have the Broncos Distance Carnival this Friday, March 22 at Casa Roble High School.
