ELK GROVE, Calif. – Senior Serena Shimada recorded a pair of top-three finishes and Isabelle Grassel had three season best performances at the Husky Invitational on Saturday in a multi-team event hosted at Sheldon High School.
Shimada was second in the 100m hurdles in a season-best 15.85 to edge teammate Isabella Palchak who finished third with a season-best 16.82. Shimada also was third in the 300m hurdles in 48.01, while Palchak was second in the high jump (5-4). Shimada also contributed on the 4x100m relay that placed fourth.
Freshman Kenna de Lemos won the Frosh/Soph 100 meters, running a personal-best for the second consecutive week with a 12.92. Isabelle Grassel was sixth in the varsity 100 meters in a season-best 12.81 with senior Chanel Grimes with a 12.98 in ninth. She had a season-best 26.71 in the 200 meters with Grassel clocking her season-best in 27.52 to place 11th. Grassel was third in the long jump with a best jump of 16-10.
Junior Meghan Ladd was second in the pole vault at 9-0 with sophomores Molly Chambers (8-9) and Madison Gravelle (8-0) finishing 1-2 in the Frosh/Soph vault.
Sophomore Giovanna Rudis had a personal-best 29-7 in the triple jump to win the Frosh/Soph event and was third in the long jump with a leap of 16-10.
In the throws, Rose Goyette had a PR in the discus at 72-5, while Sarah Healey was 10th in the varsity discus with a best of 79-8.
St. Francis has a Delta League meet on Wednesday against Sheldon and the distance crew will be at the Bronco Distance Carnival at Casa Roble HS on Friday.
