Track and Field Opens Season at Sac State High School Classic

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis 4x100-meter relay finished second in the opening event of the day to highlight the team's participation in the Sacramento State High School Classic on Saturday.

Sophomore Reyna Johnson and seniors Chanel Grimes, Serena Shimada and Isabelle Grassel posted a time of 50.26 to place second in their first race of the season.

Johnson also was second on the 100m hurdles in 15.05 and eighth in the 100m in 12.87.

Junior Isabella Palchak won the high jump with a clearance of 5-2 and was seventh in the long jump with a leap pf 14-7. Grassel finished 15th with a best of 14-1.5.

Sophomore Molly Chambers finished ninth in the 300m hurdles in 53.90 and fourth in the pole vault with a vault of 9-0. Freshman Kenna Delemos was 10th in the 200 meters in 26.99 in her prep track debut after earning Defensive MVP honors for the Junior Varsity Gold soccer team.

The team will compete against Christian Brothers on Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the annual Holy Spikes meet. Results will be available on Red Cap Timing.
