Troubie soccer snares national ranking

Troubie soccer snares national ranking

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Undefeated with a 7-0-2 overall record, St. Francis' soccer team snared a No. 8 ranking in the United Soccer Coaches' first Winter High School Rankings of 2023.

The Troubadours are one of just three California schools in the January 3 poll, behind No. 1 Santiago and No. 7 Archbishop Mitty. The back-to-back positioning of the Monarchs and SF makes sense, as the two teams played to a 2-2 tie back on December 10.

To be considered for a ranking, a team must have a winning percentage of at least .750, and hold "good standing" in terms of violations and other disciplinary actions. Teams that allow fifth-year, postgraduate students are not eligible. Any contest played during the regular state-sanctioned playing season will count toward the win-loss record. A committee first selects a regional ranking, then the national committee will consider the regional rankings in compiling the national list.

The 2023 winter rankings are released on the following intervals: January 3, January 17, February 7, February 21, March 14, with a final ranking on April 18.
