PITTSBURG, Calif. – The St. Francis junior varsity red basketball team posted a 65-32 win over Mt. Diablo to claim third place at the Lady Pirate Holiday Classic on Saturday. Three players hit double figures against the Red Devils including 13 by Emily Kroettinger and 10 points each by Sydney Dukes and Sophie Harris.
St. Francis (3-4) opened up a 12-5 lead in the first quarter as Sydney Dukes scored six of her 10 points in the contest. Mia Hamerton hit a three-pointer as part of her five points in the second as the Troubies extended the lead to 26-13.
A season-best 23-point third quarter saw Emily Kroetinger hit four baskets as part of her nine points and Sophie Harris got hot in the fourth to seal the game. She scored eight of her 10 points in the quarter.
Hamerton and Jadyn Weaver were named to the Lady Pirate Holiday Classic All-tournament team.
The Troubies lost to host Pittsburg 42-32 on Friday after a win over Franklin (29-18) on Thursday.
St. Francis plays Del Oro in the opening round of the Folsom-Vista Classic at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at Folsom HS.
