Troubies finish fourth in SFL, advance to section divisional
ROSEVILLE, Calif. – Junior Arden Han-Wei and freshman Chloe Jun each shot 5-over-par 77s to lead St. Francis to a team score of 436 strokes and a berth in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I Championship at the Sierra Foothill League girls' golf championship at Timber Creek.

Additionally, Han-Wei earned All-Sierra Foothill League first-team distinction, although that honor will not be officially bestowed until the conclusion of the fall sports season, per SFL policies.

The Troubadours placed fourth as a team, trailing Granite Bay (367), Oak Ridge (391) and Del Oro (423); while also finishing ahead of Folsom (453), Davis (484), Whitney (496) and Rocklin (498). The top three finishers plus any team that scores 450 or better earns berths in the SJS Division I tournament, held on Monday at Castle Oaks in Ione.

Han-Wei earned her all-league nod by virtue of ranking among the top 10 SFL players based on scores from her top 13 dual matches plus the SFL center tourney and Tuesday's championship. Overall, the former Delta League Player of the Year enters the section postseason with an 18-hole stroke average of 73.65, with seven dual matches at par or better.

Sophomore Momina Niazi scored an 85, sophomore Nydia Garcia added a 93 and senior Neta Tovar posted a 104 to complete the SF scoring. Junior Gianna Seghesio rounded out the lineup with 120, although three additional Troubies were invited to participate in the junior varsity standings as individual entrants. Brooke Bolman carded a 92, Mira Smith turned in a 95, while Anna Schnack made her SF debut with a round of 111.

Oak Ridge's Paavni Behl and Granite Bay's Khloe Chao each scored 69 as the only players to finish under par, although two more Grizzlies – Sakura Watanabe and Serene Kim – both scored matching even-par 72s for Tuesday's round.

The SJS Division I tourney begins with a 10 a.m. shotgun, with qualifying teams from the SFL, Delta League and Tri City Athletic League facing off. The top teams and individuals from the divisional then move on to the SJS Masters tourney in Stockton on November 4.
