STOCKTON, Calif. – Junior Arden Han-Wei drained birdies on the par-5 second and sixth holes to help close out a 4-over-par 76, leading St. Francis at the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters tournament at The Reserve At Spanos Park Golf Course Monday. The Troubadours finished eighth as a team with 466 strokes in their 2024 season finale.
Oak Ridge edged Granite Bay for the team title at 28-over 388 strokes to the Grizzlies' 395. Pleasant Grove (412), Lodi (431), Woodcreek (488), Del Oro (459) and Oakdale (460) claimed the third through seventh places, respectively, while Turlock (471), Woodland Christian (487), Mountain House (529) and Hilmar (553) finished behind SF.
Individually, Han-Wei's 76 put her in a three-way tie for 12th place with Mountain House's Ashlee Xu and Pleasant Grove's Petra Yee. Freshman Chloe Jun tied for 42nd as St. Francis' No. 2 scorer with an 86, and sophomore Nydia Garcia shared 50th place at 90. Sophomore Momina Niazi and senior Neta Tovar rounded out the Troubie scoring with rounds of 100 and 114, respectively, while junior Gianna Seghesio finished at 141 strokes as St. Francis' No. 6 entrant.
Overall, Han-Wei fired a 1-under on the front nine after a slow start to her day, moving herself among the top 15. Jun was one of only four players to birdie the par-4, 364-yard ninth, rated as the No. 3 toughest hole in the around for the field at 5.52. The course's home hole proved the toughest of the day, with the field averaging plus-1.85 to par, but Niazi was one of just 32 of the 105 total players to walk away with a par-4 or better.
Han-Wei has now posted rounds of 74, 79 and 76 in three appearances at the SJS Masters tourney, with the Troubies lopping off 33 strokes from the 499 they scored on the same Spanos Park course a year ago.
The Masters event wraps up the first season under head coach Jenn Moore, a member of three NorCal-champion teams who returned to her alma mater to assume the SF helm in August.
