Golf Wins Opening Dual Match with Franklin

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis golf team defeated Franklin with a team score of 208 and junior Haanya Niazi was the medalist with a two-over par 38. The Troubadours placed their six players among the top seven in the match. It was the 32nd straight dual match win for the program.

Niazi tied her prep career best, equaling her 38 shot in the season opener against Elk Grove last season at Haggin Oaks, winning medalist honors for the second time in her career. After a bogey on the first, she birdied the second before four straight pars. She recorded a bogey on the seventh before finishing with two pars.

Senior Ceci Fletcher had a four-over par 40, one shot off her career-best 39 set as a sophomore against Davis. She was just two-over par thru the first eight holes but had double-bogey on the final hole.

"I had a pretty solid round but the last hole was pretty rough," said Fletcher. "It all about taking stroke by stroke."

Senior Nashla Aguero posted a 42 to place third on the team and fourth overall in the match. Senior Amanda Siy carded a 45, while junior Madeline Lee also posted a 45. Freshman Julia Geer shot a 48 on Tuesday.

St. Francis takes on Davis on Monday at Wildhorse Golf Course at 3 p.m.
