DAVIS, Calif. – Sophomore Audrey Bashore scored 13 points with a pair of three-pointers but a strong finish could not overcome a sizable halftime deficit as St. Francis junior varsity lost to Davis by a final of 55-29 in a JV-only Sierra Foothill League girls' basketball game Thursday night.
The Troubadour jayvees drop their fourth straight game to dip to 6-14 overall and 1-6 in SFL play.
With SF varsity not playing until Friday, Bashore and fellow 10th-grader Natalia Zitelli lent their services to junior varsity for Thursday's action. Zitelli, Dickinson, Lena Mundhenk and Keanna Daneshvar each tallied a field goal in support of Bashore and Emmy Cheatham, who added seven points.
Zitelli also recorded five steals, with Bashore and Daneshvar adding another four apiece. However, Davis held a commanding 29-7 lead at halftime, and pulled ahead even further to a 46-14 edge before SF managed to pile up 15 points in the finale – including Bashore's two treys.
The St. Francis varsity squad joins Jesuit in an SFL doubleheader on Friday. The Troubies take on Davis at 5:30 p.m., with the Marauders and Blue Devils clashing in the 7 p.m. nightcap.
