Wildcats pull away from Troubie jayvees

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Audrey Bashore scored a team-leading nine points, freshman Jocelyn Dickinson added eight points with a team-high eight rebounds, and freshman Keanna Daneshvar shot 3-for-3 with her team's only three-pointer, but St. Francis junior varsity lost a 51-33 matchup against Whitney in a JV-only basketball contest Thursday night.

The Troubadours drop their sixth straight to fall to 5-10 for the year.

Dickinson and Daneshvar each hit a pair of field goals, including the latter's trey, to help keep St. Francis to a 16-16 tie with the Wildcats at halftime. Bashore poured in all nine of her offense after the break, but it not enough to offset Whitney's shooting in the same span: the Wildcats drained six shots from beyond the arc in the second half in pulling away with the win.

Defensively, Dickinson and Daneshvar also blocked two shots apiece, with Daneshvar adding three steals. Lena Mundhenk added another six points for the Troubies, netting a field goal in each of the first three periods.

Thursday's games marks the first of numerous instances in which the JV and varsity teams split up to play on different nights. The SF varsity will take on the Wildcats in Rocklin in Friday as part of a doubleheader with Jesuit. The Troubies tip off at 5:30, with the Marauders following at 7 p.m.
