FOLSOM, Calif. – The St. Francis Junior Varsity Gold team defeated host Vista del Lago in the third-place game 54-32 to complete the weekend with a 2-1 record.

Sophomore Mo Cornejo led the team with 11 points in the second game on Saturday. It was her second career game in double figures. She scored six of her points in the opening quarter when the Troubadours burst out to a 25-4 lead. Sophomore Alex Tenorio scored all of her seven points in the quarter to help the effort.

"It feels really good especially after falling to Del Oro this win is really nice," said Cornejo. "I played better than the first game."

Raquel Smith scored six of her 10 points in the second quarter as the team extended the lead to 39-17 at the half.

JoJo Myers added eight points in the win as 11 players scored in the contest.

Del Oro defeated St. Francis in the semifinal game 59-42. The Troubies had 10 players scored led by eight points by Alex Tenorio but struggled at the line, shooting just 44 percent (14-32). Jojo Myers and Maya Hilger both chipped in six points.

St. Francis returns to action at home on Thursday, hosting Granite Bay on Thursday and Del Oro on Friday with two rematches from the Folsom-Vista Classic. Both games are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. tipoffs.
