FOLSOM, Calif. – Sophomore Raquel Smith scored six of her 10 points in the first half as the St. Francis Junior Varsity Gold team posted a 50-35 win over Granite Bay in the first game of the Folsom-Vista Classic. The Troubadours take on Del Oro in the semifinals at 8:30 p.m. on Friday night at Vista del Lago HS.
"It was a great win tonight," said Smith, who hit double figures for the third time this season. "We were able to hit quick transitions on the court and we took to the paint really well. We came out strong and we were determined."
The Troubadours (6-1) scored 33 points in the first half to take a 11-point lead at halftime. Freshman JoJo Myers all of her 14 points in the first half.
Sophomore Zahra Smith got to the line I the third, hitting 3-of-4 from the charity stripe to go with one of her two baskets to score eight points in the game. Grace Bashore added six in the win.
Vista del Lago and Folsom will meet in the second semifinal. Folsom defeated Liberty Ranch 63-38 and Vista stopped Davis 63-30.
