SENIOR CELEBRATIONS: Softball’s Isabell Roa-Rodriguez

Today: Softball's Isabell Roa-Rodriguez – She was a four-year softball player who made her varsity debut this season. She was named the team Most Valuable Player on the JV team in both 2018 and 2019 and hit a career-best .403 as a freshman.

"Isabell has always proved that she can work hard on the field and in the classroom. It's a sad way to end her senior season, but I know her future is bright." Haley Kim

"I admire Roa because despite every challenge and circumstance she has to face, she is a fighter and will let nothing get in her way. She is really funny and a great person to get to know and talk with. She inspires me to work harder even if there's a road block ahead of me. I hope I can get to practice with her or play one more game with her again!"  - Grace Jenkins

I am proud of your progress this season. I noticed a huge difference in your approach entering tryouts. You appeared focused and determined as ever to make the varsity squad. You were aggressive at the plate and in the outfield. It was the most confident I had seen you in four years. You stayed the course and earned your spot on the varsity softball team this year. You even overcame an early season injury, only to return and earn a starting role in the outfield.

Then our season was cut short by Covid-19. I'm sad we could not finish the season and watch you flourish in your final year at St. Francis. You are a very quiet athlete, but have a terrific sense of humor. Your loyalty to the St. Francis Softball Program has not gone unnoticed by your coaches or teammates. We are all extremely proud of your accomplishments on and off the field. Good luck in college, and know we'll always be here for you." - Head Coach Kevin Warren
