LOOMIS, Calif. – Sophomore Jasleen Gandhoke won three events while sophomore Alexa Randall posted the No. 9 200-meter time in school history, highlighting St. Francis action at the third and final Sierra Foothill League center meet, hosted by Del Oro High and featuring Granite Bay and Oak Ridge.
The meet is slated as a triple dual, with head-to-head matchups between the Troubadours and the Golden Eagles, Grizzlies and Trojans helping to determine the league's year-end standings. However, no team scores were posted.
Gandhoke won all three events in which she appeared: a 15.85 time in the 100-meter hurdles, a 47.76 in the 300 hurdles, and leap of 5 feet, 3 inches in the high jump. The 300 hurdle time missed the school's top-10 list by just two hundredths of a second, with Marie Brothers holding the 10th spot with the 47.74 she ran at the 1985 Metro League championship meet.
Randall won the 400 at 58.97 seconds, nearly a half second faster than her previous personal best of 59.44 at last year's Sacramento Meet of Champions, but also missing the SF top-10 leaderboard. However, she became just the 10th Troubadour to eclipse 26 seconds in the 200 later in the meet, running a 25.93 in the first heat. Randall now ranks ninth in school history, with the fastest mark by any Troubie since Meaghan Rogers went 25.68 at the 2017 Sac-Joaquin Section Division I championships.
Gandhoke and Randall had four of St. Francis' seven wins in varsity events. The 4x100 relay of Gaby Gonzalez, Randall, Emma Bugarin and Jada Dwyre combined for a 49.87 – the program's first sub-50 time in that event this season. Sophomore Tayli Paeu-Lindgren captured the long jump at 16-4.25. Finally, Sunny Schranz outraced the field in the 3,200 with a 11:26.38 – exactly one second shy of the PR 11:25.38 from last year's MOC.
Freshman Emilia Ryan accounted for two of the Troubies' four first-place finishes in frosh-soph events. She doubled in the 1,600 (5:38.50) and 3,200 (12:06.28), cutting almost six seconds from her previous best in the former and making her SF debut in the latter event. Freshman Cassidy Butler improved three inches to a winning 7-3 in the pole vault, while freshman Maura McManus won the long jump at 14-1.
A select group of St. Francis athletes will compete at the Arcadia Invitational this weekend. The foursome of Schranz, Halle Welch, Miya Menza and Sophia Kadel compete in Friday's Seeded 4x1600 relay at 8:30 p.m. Friday night. Then on Saturday, Gandhoke will rep the Troubies in the Invitational high jump at 6:45 p.m., with Schranz, Randall, Menza and Welch following in the distance medley at 7:23 p.m. Links to live results and a video stream can be found at GoTroubies.com or www.arcadiainvitational.org.
