Boswell's PR leads Troubies at second SFL meet

ROCKLIN, Calif. – Senior Maysen Boswell posted a personal best in the shot put, joining sophomore Jasleen Gandhoke in the high jump and the 4x100 relay among St. Francis' varsity wins, highlighting the second of three Sierra Foothill League center track & field meets, hosted at Whitney High School Wednesday.

The meet is officially a double dual with the Wildcats and nearby Rocklin, with the Troubadours falling to the hosts by a 74-61 but rolling past the Thunder, 113-19. The three center meets plus the May 3 SFL championships determine the final league standings.

Boswell enjoyed a first-place push of 31 feet, 3.5 inches in the shot, winning event by more than 16 full inches with Rocklin's Rhyan Arregui finishing second at 29-11. Boswell surpassed her previous PR of 30-3.5 at the 2023 Halden Invitational. Gandhoke cleared 5-3 to lead a 1-2 St. Francis exacta atop the high jump, with Tayli Paeu-Lindgren in second at 4-8. The foursome of Gaby Gonzalez, Alexa Randall, Lucia Vicio and Jada Dwyre won a Troubadour-heavy 4x100 relay at 50.58 in the meet's first event.

Randall enjoyed a strong overall meet in addition to her contributions in the short relay. She ran her first sub-minute 400-meter dash since last year's Delta League championships, thanks to a runner-up 59.75. That stands as Randall's No. 2 all-time mark in the quarter, behind only the 59.44 at the 2024 Sacramento Meet of Champions. She followed with a PR of 26.70 in the 200 despite a 2.9 meters per second headwind on the home stretch, good for second in the meet behind only Oak Ridge's Hannah Heinlein (26.10).

Dwyre later popped a 100-meter PR of 13.08, besting the 13.28 she posted in the Delta League center meet on March 30 of her freshman season.

Among the junior varsity events, sophomore Mia Hollar won both the 1,600 (5:49.10) and the 300 hurdles (57.37). The latter win led a 1-2-3 Troubie trifecta, with Alyssa Tafoya (57.92) and Ava Harmatz (58.60) also coming through in less than a minute. Sophomore Christie So added a JV victory in the discus throw with a 79-3 effort.

The Whitney/Rocklin meet is the last time the entire SF track team competes together until the next SFL center meet at Folsom on April 9. Until then, the distance crew competes at the Dublin Distance Fiesta this weekend plus Oakmont's Valhalla Distance Carnival on March 28. The throwers and jumpers return to action at the Granite Bay Field Festival on March 28, then sprinters compete at Bella Vista's Bronco Speed Festival the next day. Finally, a select group of qualified Troubies will take part at the Stanford Invitational on April 4 and 5.
