Track and Field Wins Holy Spikes

CARMICHAEL, Calif. – The St. Francis track and field team swept both competitions against Christian Brothers at the Holy Spikes meet Wednesday at Jesuit High School. The Troubadours took eight varsity event wins and all 10 events in the Frosh/Soph meet to post an 82-49 win by the varsity and 84-16 in the Frosh/Soph.

"For the first full-tea meet I am super excited about it," said Head Coach Aaron Rios. "We have been working on coming together as a team over the last three weeks. We have been praying together, encouraging each other and working hard. We saw all of that today."

The Troubies got wins in both hurdle events as senior Isabella Palchak won the 100m in 16.03 and sophomore Grace Heisinger posted a personal-best 50.86 in the 300m hurdles. Junior Rose Goyette threw a personal-best 83 feet in the discus for first place and Palchak cleared 5-3.25 to win the high jump. Senior Sasha Utter won the pole vault at 8-6.

St. Francis swept the distance events as senior Isabella Fauria won the 800 (2:15.60), sophomore Claire Silva won the 1600 in 5:36.53 and sophomore Cate Joaquin clocked 10:57.08 to win the 3200.

The St. Francis 4x400-meter relay (Peyton Carson, Grace Harrison, Alexis Leon and Sophia Young) won the final race in 4:23.78.

Freshman Sophia Young was third in the 100 meters (13.27), while freshman Theone Divinagracia was second in the 200 meters in 26.80. Sophomore Grace Heisinger has a personal-best 1:01.67 in the 400m.

Junior Isabella Chavez was second in the shot put (25-3.5).

In the frosh/Soph meet, the event winners includes sophomore Alex Davis (100 meters, 13.87), sophomore Irene Hales (200 meters, 28.51; 400 meters, 1:03.68), sophomore Allison Williams (800 meters, 2:35.19), junior Zee Phillips (SP, 25-3.5; Discus, 70-1; Long Jump, 14-4.5) and Taylor Stanley (pole vault, 9-0). Paige Quigley took the 3200.
