Troubie soccer hosts Raiders in SJS opener Tuesday
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis earned the No. 4 seed and will host 13th-seeded River City in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I girls' soccer championship tournament, the section office announced Wednesday. The playoff opener will take place at Cristo Rey High's Adamson Family Sports Complex on Tuesday at 3 p.m.

The Troubadours finished the regular season with a 13-5-4 overall record and a 7-5-2 mark in their first year with the Sierra Foothill League, good for third place in the standings. Impressively, the SFL has five teams in the D-I bracket alone: top-seeded Del Oro, No. 4 St. Francis, No. 5 Davis, No. 8 Oak Ridge and No. 10 Folsom.

Junior midfielder and Nevada Wolf Pack commit Miley Blough holds team highs in both goals (9) and assists (11) for 29 points, with Sofia Rabinovitz (8-0-16) and Madeline Squaglia (6-3-15) next in line in the points department. Senior Jada Dwyre has another 14 points, mostly from her 10 assists.

St. Francis, which enters the postseason on a four-game winning streak, has allowed just 20 goals for the season thanks in large part to the presence of two college-bound seniors on the back line: Maggie Koerwitz (San Francisco) and Sarah Bashore (Framingham State). Freshman goalkeeper Mia Rabinovitz has 104 saves for the year, with the 20 goals against resulting in a robust 0.95 GAA.

River City enters the playoffs with a 11-6-2 season record, also finishing third in league (6-4). Junior Eva Forrester leads the Raiders offensively with 11 goals and four assists for 26 points, with a 2-2-6 chart coming against Wood on February 4.

Tickets for the game are handled exclusively through GoFan, and will become available a few days before the contest at the platform's CIF-SJS page: https://gofan.co/app/school/CIFSJS
