JV Red hoop drops rematch against Eldo

PLACERVILLE, Calif. – Meredith Little and Amelin Pragasam each scored a career-high seven points, but St. Francis JV Red could not erase an early deficit in falling by a 43-22 final at El Dorado in a frosh girls' basketball game Friday night.

The Troubadours slip to 3-9 for the year. This marked the second meeting against the Cougars, with SF winning the first meeting at home by a 30-26 final.

The 22 points marks the Troubies' highest total since scoring that total against Twelve Bridges at Oak Ridge's Trojan Toss-up tournament. Impressively, JV Red's all-frosh roster – already reduced due to Abigail Hall, Natalia Zitelli and Sienna Dukes moving to JV Gold in December – was further depleted to just six players due to injuries, illnesses or other factors.

Grace Gustorf added another six points, all in the first half.  Pragasam, who had eight points entering Friday's game, hit field goals in the first, third and fourth periods. Little did most of her work in the fourth.

Eldo's point guard Gabby Blankenship matched SF's offensive output on her own with 22 points.

JV Red returns to action on Tuesday for a 4:30 p.m. road tilt at Oak Ridge. The St. Francis varsity and JV Gold squads will host Franklin for a key Delta League matchup on Wednesday.
