Troubie JV drops makeup game at Pleasant Grove

ELK GROVE, Calif. – Taylor Trafican and Hailey Strange each had two hits in the 2-3 part of the order, but St. Francis junior varsity ultimately fell by a 10-1 final to Pleasant Grove in Delta League softball action Friday afternoon.

The Troubadours fall to 11-3-1 for the year and 4-2-1. Friday's game was a rescheduling of a matchup originally slated for April 14. That game was postponed 24 hours due to rain, then pushed back by two weeks when PG's junior varsity field was deemed unplayable.

Trafican finished 2-for-3 on the day, singling and scoring the lone St. Francis run in the fourth, then doubling in the sixth. Strange singled in each of the second and fourth, but was left on third when the Troubies stranded the bases loaded in the fourth. Sorina Pometta, Natalie Vigil and Maggie Leonard also had one hit each but none advanced beyond second after their safeties.

The Eagles did most of their damage in a five-run third, with a bases-loaded triple extending their 2-0 start to a 5-0 advantage. They pushed across two more after that hit in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth for 10 runs total.

The Troubie JV join their varsity sisters as part of a doubleheader at Vista Del Lago on Monday, then return home for a Delta League visit from Franklin on Tuesday.
