Bashore scores first career TD in road loss at Folsom

FOLSOM, Calif. – Freshman Gianna Barnes hit junior receiver Sarah Bashore for a touchdown pass early in the second half, but that ended up as the lone Troubadour score as St. Francis lost to Folsom, 32-6, in a Sierra Foothill League flag football game Thursday night.

The Troubadours fall to 1-3 for the year, 1-2 in SFL play. The Bulldogs pick up their first win of the year, improving to 1-8 with a 1-3 conference mark.

Barnes, on loan from the St. Francis junior varsity squad, connected with Bashore for the latter's first career touchdown at the 13:52 mark. However, Folsom senior Mia Keller threw for four touchdowns, while Keira La Comb scored one in the air and one on the ground to lead their team offensively.

The Troubies continued to operate without several of their senior starters, including quarterback Emma Karamanoukian. In fact, Barnes took over behind center for the varsity after her strong performance in the JV debut at Woodcreek on Wednesday night.

St. Francis returns home to host Del Oro (9-2, 5-0) for a 4:30 game on Tuesday.
