Gorman's hat trick lifts JV Red to 7-0 shutout

ROSEVILLE, Calif. – Sophomore Katherine Gorman scored her first career hat trick while freshman Holland Sperber added two more tallies as St. Francis' JV Red squad blanked West Park, 7-0, in girls' prep soccer action Tuesday evening.

The Troubadours improve to 7-2-2, extending their unbeaten streak to eight games.

Gorman, who scored her first SF goal just four days earlier at Rocklin, posted three straight in Tuesday's victory. She converted an assist from Sara Ellis in the 27th minute, then netted back-to-back in the 58th and 62nd to complete her trifecta. Sperber put the Troubies on the board with a goal in the fourth minute, then completed her brace in the 63rd to extend the lead to 6-0.

Kate Stallings also scored to help boost St. Francis to a 3-0 halftime lead, while Mia Nelson assisted Kate Lewis for the Troubies final goal of the game in the 66th.

St. Francis has gone 6-0-2 in a span dating back to the second day of the Inderkum Invitational in early December. The JV Red is now idle until the January 18 tripleheader at Davis. In the interim, varsity and JV Gold host Elk Grove at Cristo Rey on Thursday.
