Alumna Rheann Fall ’08 Selected to First Hall of Fame Class at CSUMB

MONTEREY BAY, Calif. – St. Francis alumna Rheann Fall '08 was selected to the first Athletics Hall of Fame at Cal-State University Monterey Bay inducted Feb. 16.

"It is pretty cool," said Fall. "While I was playing it was never something to aspire to because they never had one. It is still surreal and I am speechless."

Fall was a four-year starter as an outside hitter and was the first Otter in any sport to earn All-America honors, receiving Daktronics First Team honors in 2010. She was the CSUMB Female Athlete of the Year in 2010-11.

"My favorite moment was my junior year all together," said Fall. "It was the best year we had while I was there. Our team was ranked 21st in the nation at one point and got a lot of recognition on campus and in our conference. The whole junior year was a cool experience."

She also was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association National Player of the Week that season. Her other accomplishments include ranking as the all-time leader in career kills and service aces and posting a single-game best 27 kills in a match in 2008.

"I check back to see if people are breaking my records," said Fall. "Records are meant to be broken. But it is great to see new girls coming in and trying to beat them. I want to hold on to them a little longer. They will all be broken one day."

Fall was a standout at St. Francis before heading to the Monterey Bay coast. She was a four-year varsity player, helping the team to four Delta River titles (2004-08), three Sac-Joaquin Section titles (2004, 2005, 2007) and was member of the State Championship team in 2005. She was named the Delta River League MVP and MVP of the Senior Optimist Game in 2008 as a senior.

"Winning state my sophomore year was definitely the highlight," said Fall. "We were the first Sacramento team to win state and first at the school. We only lost one match all year. It was an awesome team. We weren't supposed to win but we won in three."

Fall graduated from St. Francis in 2008. She works as an assistant coach at American River College, helping her team to the state championship this fall. She also coaches for the Synergy Force Volleyball Club.
