Volleyball Sweeps on Night Celebrating Head Coach Alynn Wright

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – On a night that included a pregame recognition for Head Coach Alynn Wright, it was only appropriate the Troubadours added to her 30-year legacy by clinching the 22nd league title in school history under her watch. . St. Francis defeated Sheldon 25-10, 25-3, 25-11.

"I don't know where to start. It was a very special evening," said Wright, who is coaching her 30th season at St. Francis. "The school, the program, the athletic department and teams all hold a special place in my heart. Each one has brought different memories, challenges and special moments. But tonight was one of the extra special nights. It was really special."

The athletic department surprised her with a commemorative bobble head and her varsity team presented her with a bracelet. All three teams warmed up in special shirts recognizing her 30 years of service to the school with her husband handling the public address and daughter, Taryn, coaching with her on the bench.

St. Francis improved to 10-0 on the season, clinching at least a share of the Delta League title. It is the second consecutive for the program. The Troubadours have also won 12 Sac-Joaquin Section titles, two Northern California Regional titles and a state championship under Wright.

"We want to keep improving and keep trying to peek when the playoffs come around," said Wright.

St. Francis has two regular season games left against Cosumnes Oaks on Thursday and Franklin for senior night next Tuesday with the Stockton Invitational sandwiched in this weekend.

"We will playing some really good teams this weekend, which is exciting," said Wright. "It will show us what we need to work on in order to continue to be successful during the playoffs to make a good playoff run. There is still a lot of ahead of us."

Senior Kathryn Kramer led the team with 13 kills on Tuesday with Kiley Kane (6), Monet Cook (5) and Ashley Magley (4) contributing to the offensive output.

The night included the annual Booster Que provided by the St. Francis Booster Club including A&W root beer floats and the stands were filled with several middle school teams and past volleyball campers. Fans were treated to autographs by the varsity team.

"The girls are working hard every day to make the season last as long as possible," said Wright.
