Volleyball Team Banquet Celebrates 2018 Season

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis volleyball program celebrated their 2018 campaign on Friday at the annual team banquet at the school's Dining Hall.

2018 Volleyball Highlights

  • St. Francis (34-6) advanced to the CIF Northern California Regional semifinals before losing Bishop O'Dowd. The Troubadours defeated Valley Christian and Campolindo in the first two rounds and ranked No. 21 in the final MaxPreps state rankings.
  • St. Francis reached the Sac-Joaquin Section finals for the second consecutive season, losing to Oak Ride 3-2. The Troubies were the No. 1 seed and defeated Kennedy (3-0), Folsom (3-0) Pleasant Grove (3-0) in the first three rounds.
  • Delta League Coach of the Year Alynn Wright led the Troubadours to the league title for the 22nd time in her career as St. Francis went 14-0.
  • Alexa Edwards was named the Delta League Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. She ranked sixth in the state of California in kills with 572. Four players earned All-League honors in 2018 as voted by the league coached. Kathryn Kramer earned the distinction for the second consecutive season and was joined by first-time seletions Sam Chavez, Jesiree Moral and Madison Bachelor.
  • Kramer and Chavez were selected for the Optimist All-Star game played at St. Francis. Both will continue their careers in college with Kramer signing with TCU Beach and Chavez joining the Cal-State Monterey Bay program.
  • St. Francis defeated Christian Brothers in front of a sold out crowd in the annual Holy Court matchup.
  • The junior varsity team went undefeated (33-0) and won three tournament titles during the season, as well as defeating Christian Brothers in Holy Court.
  • The freshman team posted a 22-3 record, including a 12-0 mark in Delta League play. The Troubies placed third at the Carmichael Invitational and fifth at the Stovckton Invitational. They defeated Christian Brothers in Holy Court. The team had the best cumulative GPA of the fall teams with a 3.73.
