Troubie JV wraps action at Crusher Classic

NAPA, Calif. – Sophomore Frannie Wells scored five goals in the opener against Davis while sophomore Rose Haag netted two scores against McClatchy in the nightcap, but St. Francis found itself on the losing end of each contest during Saturday's portion of the Crusher JV Classic girls' water polo tournament at Vintage High.

The Troubadours fell to Davis, 13-6, then followed with a 12-2 setback to CKM in moving to 5-11 for the season.

Wells scored five of her team's six goals, while Sara Ellis had the sixth and assisted on two of Wells' makes. Della Smith and Ava Jack were also credited with assists. Against the Lions, Haag accounted for both SF goals in the loss to the Lions. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Jayel Miller posted 14 blocks against CKM.

Saturday marked one of three meetings with McClatchy in the span of eight days: the Troubies host the Lions for their home opener on Thursday, then return to Freeport Boulevard for the CKM JV Scramble on October 14.

Both St. Francis water polo teams are next in action at Del Oro on Tuesday. JV plays at 6 p.m. with varsity following at 7 p.m.
