    SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A group of five St. Francis swimmers claimed a total of seven awards as the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association announced its 2021-22 All-America awards.

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis’ Kevin Warren, Julia Southard and Brian Nabeta each earned Coach of the Year honors in softball, lacrosse and swimming, respectively, while softball pitcher Hope Jenkins and lacrosse midfielder Zahra Smith were both selected as the Player of the Year for her sport as the Delta League rolled out its full slate of spring sports awards following the conclusion of the Sac-Joaquin Section postseason.

    FRESNO, Calif. – Junior Ava Chavez enjoyed a podium finish in the 200-yard freestyle and three more school records fell as St. Francis finished in a tie for eighth with 74 points at the CIF state swimming championships, held at Clovis West’s Clovis Olympic Swim Complex Saturday.

  • Psych sheets released for CIF state swim meet

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The psych sheets for the CIF state swimming championships were released on Monday, with five St. Francis student-athletes in eight events now officially entered in the meet. The state swim meet consists of trials on Friday (1 p.m. start) and finals on Saturday (10:30 a.m. start) at Clovis West High’s Clovis Olympic Swim Complex.

    LODI, Calif. – Junior Ava Chavez broke her own school record in her 200-yard freestyle individual title, then took part in two second-place freestyle relays that also cracked previous program benchmarks, leading St. Francis to a Division I runner-up finish at the Sac-Joaquin Section swimming championships at Tokay High Saturday.

    RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif. – Junior Ava Chavez won two events, set three St. Francis program records and eclipsed a meet record to highlight a crew of Troubies at the California Catholic Challenge, hosted by Santa Margarita High School Saturday. Chavez won both the 100-yard butterfly and breaststroke events, while leading off both SFHS freestyle relay squads.

    CARMICHAEL, Calif. — Juniors Ava Chavez and Maddy Ching each won individual championships, freshman Erica Jaffe posted a pair of runner-up finishes, three total school records fell and all three relay squads placed second to help St. Francis varsity compile a second-place team score of 505 points at the Delta League swimming championships at a drizzly Jesuit Aquatic Center Thursday afternoon.

    CARMICHAEL, Calif. – Gabriella Ching won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of one minute, 10.76 seconds while Troubies placed third in all three junior varsity relays to highlight St. Francis at Wednesday’s portion of the Delta League swimming championships at Jesuit Aquatic Center.

The meet scoring includes the 1-meter diving from a competition concurrently running in Rio Linda that afternoon.

    CARMICHAEL, Calif. — Junior Bianca Ignacio won both 50-yard and 500-yard varsity freestyle races while freshman Erica Jaffe was a double winner in the 200 free and 100 backstroke, leading St. Francis to a 118-66 win over Pleasant Grove in Delta League swimming action at Jesuit Aquatic Center Friday afternoon. The team scoring includes a diving double dual with the Eagles and Franklin, contested on Monday at Capital Divers in Rio Linda.
