CARMICHAEL, Calif. — Junior Bianca Ignacio won both 50-yard and 500-yard varsity freestyle races while freshman Erica Jaffe was a double winner in the 200 free and 100 backstroke, leading St. Francis to a 118-66 win over Pleasant Grove in Delta League swimming action at Jesuit Aquatic Center Friday afternoon. The team scoring includes a diving double dual with the Eagles and Franklin, contested on Monday at Capital Divers in Rio Linda.
This is the third straight dual win for the Troubadours.
Between varsity and junior varsity levels, St. Francis won all six relay events and all but three individual swim races for the meet. Ignacio touched the final pad in the 50 free in 26.92, editing teammate Isabelle Schmidt by seven hundredths of a second. Ignacio later prevailed in the distance free with a time of 5:44.69. Jaffe dominated the field in the 200 free at 1:57.70, more than 12 seconds faster than PG's Allison Myers. She then posted the lone sub-minute 100 back time of 57.93. Jaffe also took part in St. Francis' winning foursomes in the 200 medley relay (1:57.98) and 200 free relay (1:45.84).
Ashlyn Brock also picked up nine first-place points in the 100 free with her time of 1:00.52, leading a Troubie sweep of the top five places.
Among the JV races, Abigail Benavidez (200 free, 100 breast), Camille Olsen (200 individual medley, 100 back), Dylan Johnson (50 free), Sydney Glenn (100 butterfly) and Blythe Bauer (100 free) picked up wins for St. Francis.
The Troubies return to action on Tuesday for a home meet against area powerhouse Davis. The first event starts at 3:30 p.m.
