CARMICHAEL, Calif. — Junior Jordyn Larson, junior Greta Laborde Lagrave and freshman Erica Jaffe each won two individual varsity events to lead St. Francis to a 127-26 win over Sheldon in a Delta League swimming dual meet at Jesuit Aquatic Center Friday.
Jaffe captured the 100-yard freestyle and 100 breaststroke with times of 53.42 and 1:10.22, respectively. The 100 breast time stands as a team season best, surpassing the 1:10.79 Makenna Frederiksen swam at Carondelet two days earlier. Jaffe also led off the Troubadours' winning 200 medley relay and 400 free relay.
Laborde Lagrave claimed the 200 free at 2:06.05 then added a victory in the 100 backstroke with a 1:05.07. Larson picked up back-to-back wins: 26.20 in the 50 free followed immediately by a 1:01.11 in the 100 butterfly.
Marissa Recio also scored a varsity win with a 2:18.13 in the 200 individual medley, and was a member of all three relay wins: 1:55:18 in the medley relay, 1:48.02 in the 200 free relay, 3:50.44 in the 400 free relay.
St. Francis also won every junior varsity event. Piper Brostrom touched first in the 200 IM at 2:37.73 while aiding wins the two freestyle relays. Abigail Benavidez opened the meet with a win in the 200 free (2:19.24) and led off the 400 free relay (4:29.51). Mackenzie Back won the 50 free (28.31) and anchored the 200 free relay (1:59.29). Ashley Sexauer won the 100 back at 1:14.99 while Kennedy Seitz prevailed in the 100 breast (1:24.26) for two more JV events.
Friday's meet also provided an opportunity to recognize the St. Francis seniors, some of whom were not in attendance: Victoria Cao, Meredith Garcia, Lauren Jones, Andrea Rustic, Felicita Matthews, Ansley Riddell, Presleigh Seitz, Lauren Stegall, Rachel Thilow and Kelly WIlson.
The Troubies return to action at the Delta League Championships, held at American River College on Wednesday (trials) and Thursday (finals).
