WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior Jada Dwyre scored or assisted all four of St. Francis varsity's goals in wins over Ponderosa and host River City on the first day of the 13th-annual Raider Cup Classic girls' soccer tournament Friday. The Troubadour varsity and Gold junior varsity teams each went 2-0 for the day, while JV Red lost both of its matchups.
The Raider Cup Classic consists of both varsity and JV field, each consisting of four groups of three team pools.
The SF varsity crew shut out Ponderosa by a 1-0 final in its morning game, with Dwyre assisting Barger on a long throw-in for the contest's only goal. The Troubies then dispatched the Raiders by a 3-1 final in their Friday nightcap. JV Gold scored the maximum points in the tournament standings, thanks to a 3-0 win over Inderkum followed by a 10-0 victory against Liberty Ranch. Freshman Nassali Serwanga scored her first career Troubie goal on a free kick to lead off the opener against the Tigers, then Madeline Squaglia netted a score in each half. JV Gold followed with double-digit offense against the Hawks. Angelina Chavez and Holland Sperber each recorded a brace, Lily Hall posted two assists, while Squaglia, Lacey Harmon, Mia Nelson, Ryleigh Czerniec, Olivia Hamm and Audrey Deelstra each scored a goal.
